A few miles from Milan, in Lainate, there’s a historic villa extremely popular during the summer: it is Villa Visconti Borromeo Litta, a wonderful example of XVI-century architecture, which also features a large garden, divided into three areas – Italian, English, and an orchard. But the most striking features is its wealth of water games around the nymphaeum, many caves, and fountains – it’s probably the most evocative estate in Lombardy. In 2016, this Villa and its garden won the “ The most beautiful park in Italy” prize, in the “public” category.
